π Abstract
Self-esteem is an important psychological factor that may influence adolescents' academic motivation, engagement,
confidence, and achievement. During adolescence, students experience significant emotional, social, and academic
changes, making a healthy sense of self-worth particularly relevant to educational development. This review
examines the relationship between self-esteem and academic achievement among adolescents. The available
literature suggests that positive self-esteem may be associated with greater academic motivation, classroom
participation, persistence, and confidence in learning, while low self-esteem may contribute to fear of failure,
reduced motivation, and academic difficulties. However, the relationship is complex and may also be influenced by
family support, peer relationships, school environment, socioeconomic conditions, and previous academic
experiences. The review highlights the importance of supportive educational environments that strengthen students'
self-confidence and positive self-perceptions. Further research using longitudinal designs is recommended to clarify the direction of the relationship between self-esteem and academic achievement
