📝 Abstract
The period 2020–2025 exposed the Vietnamese economy to a succession of major shocks, ranging from the COVID-19 pandemic and supply-chain disruptions to trade tensions and geopolitical instability. Despite fluctuations in growth, Vietnam demonstrated considerable resilience and a rapid recovery, with GDP expanding by 8.02% in 2025—one of the highest growth rates worldwide. This study employs a qualitative approach, combining descriptive statistics, comparative analysis, and a synthesis of domestic and international studies and reports to elucidate the key drivers underlying this performance. The findings indicate that Vietnam’s resilience and GDP growth have emerged from the interaction of institutional reforms, trade integration, foreign direct investment, structural transformation, and macroeconomic management. Nevertheless, the current growth model remains substantially dependent on capital accumulation, exports, and the foreign-invested sector, while linkages with domestic enterprises, productivity, and innovation remain limited. The study therefore underscores the need to shift from scale-driven growth toward a growth model grounded in productivity, technological advancement, and greater domestic value added.
